SDVLP’s Women’s Resource Fair on Hiatus to Refocus Efforts.
For twenty-six years, San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, with the assistance and support of Lawyers Club and its members, and hundreds of others, has held a one-day, annual Women’s Resource Fair to benefit low-income, disadvantaged women and their children. Over the years thousands of women have attended the Fair. Women have received medical, legal, and other services aimed at helping them address their basic life needs, in addition to numerous other resources, referrals, and trainings directed at improving their lives.
For the last six months, SDVLP has been meeting with a core group of Women’s Resource Fair volunteers to re-assess the Fair’s mission and execution. The Fair is currently on hiatus while we complete a community needs assessment. During this time we will re-assess the services to be offered, and determine where best to focus our efforts to provide the most impact for Fair attendees.
There will be no toiletries collections taking place at upcoming Lawyers Club and other events, but we look forward to sharing our plans with you soon, and we again hope to see many of you helping us to serve local women in need.
