1. What information is collected when I visit the site and how is it used?

SDVLP uses "anonymous" data gathered in our web site's log files such as the IP addresses of those who visit our site, to help diagnose problems with our server, and to better administer our Web site. SDVLP does not place any cookies on your PC. Unless you submit personally identifiable information to SDVLP using one of the "CONTACT US" forms, the only personal information SDVLP will gather will be based upon your IP address.

2. What becomes of information about my identity I choose to provide?

The SDVLP web site provides (a) a CONTACT US form for users to request information about SDVLP or to contact our Webmaster, and (b) downloadable forms to become a volunteer or supporter, or, if you are a nonprofit company, to apply for corporate representation. SDVLP may also from time to time use other online surveys/forms to ask visitors for contact information. When you fill out any such forms or surveys, you may be asked to provide personal information such as name, address, email, and phone number.

Additionally, SDVLP provides a "Send Site to a Friend" form. This feature of the website sends a copy of your email and contact information to the company that built and maintains this website, RosArt Multimedia, who use the information for market research and abuse monitoring. The information is kept indefinitely. The information gathered is not used in any other ways and is not shared with third parties.

SDVLP may use any information submitted through the avenues described above to: (a) send notices about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, or to contact you to solicit funds; (b) contact you regarding administrative notices and communications relevant to your use of the site; and, (c) ask you for additional personally-identifying information.

Users are not required to provide personally identifiable information and may opt-out of being contacted in the future by following the directions in the opt-out section at question five, below.

3. Should I ever transmit confidential information about my legal issues through the CONTACT US option on this site?

You should NEVER transmit confidential information about your legal matters through this web site’s CONTACT US form or any other online survey or form. As explained in policies elsewhere on this site, NONE of the information transmitted will be kept confidential, and there can be NO expectation of confidentiality. Additionally, do NOT email any confidential or private information to any attorney or staff member of SDVLP unless SDVLP has already agreed to represent you on that issue.

Please remember that NO type of attorney relationship is formed either by your use of this web site, the use of information from the web site, by the submission of information via the web site, or use of any email addresses for SDVLP attorneys or staff.

4. With whom will SDVLP share my information?

The information gathered on the site and elsewhere is treated as SDVLP internal information and is generally not shared with others outside of SDVLP.

SDVLP may share specific information about its volunteers with the State Bar of California, the bars of other states or other organizations when asked to provide information regarding the activities of volunteers, such as to nominate volunteers for awards from the State Bar of California, to document the number of hours a volunteer expended, or for other reasons.

When co-sponsoring or participating in another organization's event, SDVLP may also, send solicitations or notices to our volunteers or supporters, which may require the assistance of a third party to transmit the information.

5. What is the site’s opt-out policy?

The site provides users the opportunity to opt out of submitting personal information to SDVLP at the point where SDVLP requests information about the visitor. When requested to do so, you can always decline to provide personal information to SDVLP.

6. How do I correct, update or delete personally identifiable information provided via this site?

If you want to have your personal information changed or deleted from the SDVLP database, please email us: CLICK HERE . Note that emails sent through the "Send Site to a Friend" feature will not be deleted.

7. What are the Privacy Policies of web sites with links on this web site?

The SDVLP site contains links to other sites.
